Originally from Fife in Scotland, Douglas graduated in medicine from Aberdeen University in 1989. After GP training he took up a partnership in a large practice in the rural knitwear mill-town of Hawick in the Scottish Borders, proud home of Bill Mclaren – “the voice of rugby”. After 25 years in practice, lately as senior partner, he decided to make a change and move out to New Zealand in 2019. Having already completed a 6 month sabbatical as a GP on the West Coast in 2016, he decided on the South Island, and on Blenheim at Springlands Health as his relocation home. His interests include tramping and fishing as well as rugby, horse riding and rowing.
