We’re updating our patient records and require a new enrolment form from you to keep your care with us funded and up to date.

This is part of a national update to privacy and enrolment rules from the Ministry of Health.

Please note this is a re-enrolment for patients already enrolled at Springlands Health. We are currently not accepting any new enrolments.

What you need to do

We will be sending out emails to all currently enrolled patients with instructions on how to re-enrol. Please contact us on 03 578 0979 if you have not received an email.

To stay enrolled and continue receiving funded care at Springlands Health, please complete the new enrolment form by 29 August 2025.

If you prefer, you can:

• Visit us at 139 Middle Renwick Road, or

• Call us and we’ll post a form to you

Why this matters

Without an updated form, your enrolment will change to casual, and you may not be able to access funded services.

We apologise if you have recently re-enrolled with us, as you will be required to fill out yet another enrolment form.

From 26 March 2025, after-hours care for our practice will include a virtual option via Practice Plus, which means you can access advice and care from your phone or computer overnight and at weekends.

If you need after-hours care, call the practice number 03 578 0979 on weekends, public holidays or after 5pm weekdays and you will be automatically connected with a clinician who can talk to you about your symptoms and book you an appropriate appointment, such as triaging you into an appointment at the Marlborough Urgent Care Centre.

It may be applicable for some patients to continue to a virtual consultation via Practice Plus. If a patient opts for this, they will be liable to pay consultation fees directly to Practice Plus. If you are having a MEDICAL EMERGENCY, call 111 immediately.

From Monday 24 February, we will be working with a new Patient Management System – Indici. We ask that you bear with us through this changeover as our staff learn and adapt to the new system. Please be aware that there will be growing pains and slight delays in service. Your patience is very much appreciated during this time.

The practice will be closed on Friday 21 February for a full day of staff Indici training. Please see the previous post from 16 January for alternative healthcare options.

Please note that on Friday the 21st of February, Springlands Health will be closed due to the instalment of a new Patient Management System.

Healthline

Healthline offers FREE 24/7 health advice over the phone. If you or a family member are unwell, and you’re not sure what to do, call Healthline. Your call will be answered by a registered nurse who you can talk with in confidence about any health issues you may be worried about. The nurse will ask you some questions then offer you advice on what to do next. Healthline is available to all ages and interpreters are available on request. Contact them on 0800 611 116

Local pharmacy

Pharmacists are qualified to provide advice and treatment for; Athletes Foot, B12 injection, Constipation, Cold Sores, Coughs and Colds, Conjunctivitis for those aged over 2 years, Contraceptive pill, Covid vaccinations and antivirals , Dry skin, nappy rash, small patches of impetigo (less than 3 areas), abrasions, bruises, insect bites & sunburn, Emergency contraception, Head lice, Mouth ulcers, Pregnancy vaccinations, Pain relief, Piles, Flu vaccinations, Hay-fever, Sore throats & earache for less than 3 days, Smoking cessation, Thrush (between ages 16 to 65), UTI (between ages 16 – 65, not pregnant), Warts & verrucas. Urgent virtual care – PracticePLUS

PracticePLUS will be available as an alternative option for acute care and offer Same Day Virtual Appointments if patients wish to have a virtual consultation with a GP. They are available weekdays until 10pm and weekends and public holidays from 8am – 8pm. To book an appointment please visit www.practiceplus.nz

Marlborough Urgent Care Centre

The Urgent Care Centre is available for patients with non-life threatening, short-term illnesses or health problems who wishes to see a GP.  It is open 8am – 8pm daily. Patient parking for the Urgent Care Centre is in the car park in front of the centre.

Located on Wairau Hospital Grounds. Entry is off Hospital Road, Blenheim. Open from 8am – 8pm, 7 days a week. Contact them on 03 520 6377 for more information

Emergency Department

Wairau hospital Emergency Department is a public health service that operates 24/7 for urgent life-threatening emergencies. Should you or a family member need emergency medical care, please visit them on Hospital Road, located at Wairau Hospital, Witherlea, Blenheim. If you are unable to attend in person and are suffering from an urgent medical event, such as chest pain, difficulty breathing, severe bleeding or pain – please contact 111.

From 1st September 2024, Springlands Health will be updating fees we charge you, our patients. This is not a decision that we have taken lightly, or one that we have wanted to make. Our updated fees will be available shortly on our website and printed copies will be available in the practice.

We know many households are struggling with the increased cost of living and also understand the important role we play in providing equitable access to affordable, high-quality primary health care.

Many of us in the primary health sector have warned the government for a number of years that the continued under-funding of General Practice is affecting our ability to deliver timely and sustainable health care.

For the coming year, Health New Zealand – Te Whatu Ora have announced an increase in funding of only 4%. In the last year, our costs have risen significantly more than this. In addition, Health New Zealand – Te Whatu Ora has directed that any funding shortfall is to be made up by patient fee increases, not government funding.

We know that money is tight for many, and we feel uncomfortable at being forced to add to this pressure. Please be assured that we will continue to offer reduced cost or free services for children, Community Services Card holders and patients who receive additional funding through alternative providers such as ACC.

We do have some funding streams that we can use to help certain patients access their medical consultations. If the cost of accessing healthcare is a concern for you then please talk to anyone in the Admin Team who will be able to help you, or email our practice manager (manager@springlandshealth.co.nz).

As with all interactions you have with us, we respect the patience and tolerance shown as we navigate this journey together. If you, like us, feel that the funding of healthcare in New Zealand needs to be reviewed by the government we encourage you to reach out to our local MP Stuart Smith (stuart.smith@parliament.govt.nz) or the health minister Dr Shane Reti (s.reti@ministers.govt.nz).

All patients with flu-like symptoms (cough, shortness of breath, sore throat, runny nose, ear pain) MUST NOT attend the practice until you have spoken with one of our practice team.
